Rocket Gardens headquarters is based at a farm in West Cornwall and it's here where they grow their plants, pack them up and send them off, direct to wherever you want them sent. Rocket Gardens was started by Mike Kitchen back in 2005, who fancied using his farming know-how and passion for plants to make growing-your-own more easily accessible to everyone who wanted to. Being a local lad, he had plenty of knowledgeable friends and family who were willing to jump on board the Rocket Revolution as the idea grew and required more manpower. The Schools Project Getting children growing their own fruit and vegetables is a fun and effective way of keeping them active, making them inquisitive about the outside world and encouraging them to question where the food they eat actually comes from. Luckily, we're not the only ones who agree that getting out and about is far higher up the priority list than an optional extra when there's nothing else going on. The Government's "Learning Outside the Classroom manifesto" makes it clear that exposing children to the world around them is "an essential part of learning and personal development." What began as a way to use up leftover plants by donating them to schools, has become a nationwide project that has led to the Rocket Revolution. Rocket Gardens will be featured at the Festival - come and learn all about their progressive ideas on gardening and on making it all much more approachable to young and old alike. They have given 4 gardens to our local schools where the children will be encouraged to plant and watch them grow. Later, chefs will be going into the schools to give a demonstration, using the plants that the children have grown. http://www.rocketgardens.co.uk/ |
