2011 Young Person's Food Festival was a triumph, with a big top supplied by Swamp Circus. A programme of demonstrations and workshops were organised within the Big Top where families could either watch or participate in all the events.
Children were able to watch the Funky Food Area run by the Cornwall Farmers' Wives to illustrate the relationship between what we grow and what we eat. A top chef's cooking demonstration for children (Sanjay Kumar, Head Chef of the Greenbank Hotel, Falmouth). Porthleven Primary School Children's Cooking Club – used vegetables they had grown in their school garden to cook for the audience. There were also demonstrations of pastry and pancake making. There were Play Rangers for the under 10's with fire building and cooking. A Skate Jam was held on the Skate Boarding Area of the Playing Field. Porthleven School Samba Band led the Fancy Dress Parade from the Playing Field to the Main Music Stage at the Lime Kiln Arena. Mr Magic performed in the Young Person's Marquee alongside face painting. Many other exciting activities took place with a large crowd of onlookers throughout the day!
