Music - Street Performers!

You’ll find them carefully crammed into every nook, cranny and crab pot!  Feast your ears on our wonderful array of talented buskers Street performers are becoming an ever-more-popular part of the Festival, and this year we're providing a dedicated area for larger groups at the bottom of Salt Cellar Hill (see number 33 on the map in the Programme),  on the opposite side of the harbour to the Lime Kiln Stage.  You will still find performers throughout the day, around the harbourside and towards the Young People's Field.  There'll be more acts than ever this year, and a wonderful variety of talent.  Wherever you are, there'll be a great performance nearby.  Some are professional or semi-professional and all are giving their time and talent to support the festival so please feel free to buy their CD's/contribute/dance/applaud!

Flats and Sharps

A young four-piece bluegrass band from Penzance, Cornwall. They started to make a name for themselves while busking in Penzance. Popular favourites from last year's festival, they play bluegrass music for the love of it and thrill audiences with their harmonies and the way they engage with their instruments.  Since then they've supported Fisherman's Friends on tour, and were semi-finalists in BBC Young Folk Award. With their fame now spreading well beyond Cornwall you'll remember hearing them here.  Brilliant harmonies and musicianship. This will be their third Food Festival appearance. Come and enjoy their foot tapping music!!! They will be playing on the Lime Kiln Stage and then busking around the streets of Porthleven throughout the day. Samba Celtica

Samba Celtica, based just outside Helston, are well-known throughout Cornwall for their irresistible vibrant and complex Latin rhythms and big sound.  From Penzance Mazey Day to Porthleven Raft Race to Padstow Festivals to St Ives New Year's Eve and many more.  Samba Celtica are a popular community samba band in West Cornwall . They play a mixture of different styles of samba including Rio samba, Samba Reggae, Maracatu, Ilê Aiyê and some funky interpretations of various other styles. When they play, you hear them! Blue Horyzon

Blue Horyzon are a four piece Harmony Blue Grass Band who love nothing more than to make music for people to enjoy ! Nathan Cole (Banjo,Vocals) Louella Eke (Mandolin,Harmonica,Vocals) Seb Wilson (Double Bass,Vocals) Sam Wilson (Guitar,Vocals) Blue Horyzon is another young local band really going places; already with a huge following. They are a four piece bluegrass / americana / folk act with a rock / pop twist. - Snow Patrol, Beatles, OutKast etc.  In 2011, they played at GuilFest, headlined Wessex Folk Festival and also played at  Croissant Neuf. Other appearances include Alice In Wonderland Fest, Morvah Fest,  Solefest, Off The Tracks Festival, Newton Abbot Race Course, Bampton Folk Festival and many more! Peter Crawford

Following a musical initiation as part of various South West bands and duo's, Peter is now a solo acoustic artist delivering crowd pleasing songs in his own style, and has so far enjoyed playing at venues across the South West and in France. 2012 will see him performing across the country as well as other international dates. With his debut album 'Hold True' being featured recently on BBC radio and the follow up album 'Six Strings....keep me sane..' being released in Nov 2011, he is now travelling the region playing his songs alongside covers of the best loved acoustic tracks. Peter draws his influences from artists such as Ryan Adams, Frank Turner, Neil Finn and Vince Freeman, while bringing his powerful and wide vocal range into the mix. Peter has always attempted to bring a plethora of reaction from his audiences via his songs from the hand-clapping, foot-stomping 'Hey Lucie' to the atmospheric 'Songbook.' Fifty Degrees - Community Choir

The Fifty Degrees, a community choir for all ages.  They've been together eight years and cover  everything from Justin Timberlake to Massive Attack, all skilfully arranged by Vicky Abbott.  Great receptions at Port Eliot Festival and others in 2011.  Don't miss! Frisson and friends

"violin, accordion, cello, percussion and  more... folk music from around the world as well as close to home!" Monkey Man

Monkey Man, a legendary entertainer in Sao Paulo, Brazil, now living and working in Cornwall.  Look out for him around the harbour with his friendly interactive humour and unique  improvisational style.

Shindig - Appalachian clog dancers
